Healthy Meal Samples

Below are samples healthy meal options for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks.

Breakfast


1/2 mashed banana mixed into 1 packet of instant plain oatmeal and 1/2 cup low-sodium V8 or tomatoe juice

1 Fruit, 1 Grain, 1 Vegetable

1 egg, 1 oz of melted reduced fat cheese on 1 slice of whole grain toast, 1/2 grapefruit

1 Fruit, 1 Grain, 1 Dairy, 1 Protein

1/2 cup of whole grain cereal, 1/2 cup 1% milk, 1 cup of strawberries

1 Fruit, 1 Grain, 1 Dairy,

1 hard-boiled egg, 1/2 whole wheat english muffin, 1 teaspoon of butter, and 1/4 cup orange juice

1 Fruit, 1 Grain, 1 Dairy, 1/2 Fat

Lunch


3 oz chicken salad Click here for recipe, 1/2 cup raw baby carrots, 5 triscuit crackers

3 Protein, 1/2 Vegetable, 1 Grain

grilled chicken cesear salad with 2 oz grilled chicken, 1 cup or more of romaine lettuce, 1-2 tablespoons of low-fat cesear dressing (7 or less grams of fat per serving), 2 tbsp grated parmesean cheese, 2-3 tbsp croutons

2 Protein, 1/2 Dairy, 1 Fat, 1/2 Grain
